What if we could put tomorrow’s leaders in charge, today?
Think tanks are known for creating big policy ideas and shouting about them loudly. But to influence tomorrow’s most influential leaders, you need to authentically engage, not lecture.
The challenge set by the Tony Blair Institute, one of the most ambitious think tanks in politics, was simple. Find a way to tell the next generation of leaders about their bold vision for how governments should embrace technology. Here’s how I tackled it.
Welcome to government.
You’re in charge here
The solution: A simulation of political leadership that’s digestible, engaging and fun.
1. Select the state you’ll lead and choose your political aim, from saving the climate, to economic growth. Your people know where you stand.
2. Invest your government’s funds in bleeding-edge technologies to unlock new, groundbreaking policy options.
3. Select an impactful mix of policies with a limited term time and budget and see impact you’re having visually and numerically.
A political strategy game that
put young people in charge.
Enabled by AI
Enabled by AI
A not-for-profit with a limited budget, the Tony Blair Institute had struggled to execute creative projects of this scope.
This time round, it was made possible this time by my strategic implementation of AI throughout the project. From Midjourney to experiment with art direction, to GPTo1 to analyse audience data for insights to Adobe Generative Fill to perfect in-game visuals.

Activating young people through social
Young people want to be heard, so we built a paid social campaign that positioned the game as an opportunity to translate passionate opinions into meaningful results.
This was pushed to audiences with targeted paid ads, influencer partnerships & social media content packs shared far and wide by Institute staff.
And leaders at the biggest political conference of the year.
The Institute’s flagship annual conference brought 500+ of the world’s most influential people into the same room. From government leaders, to business moguls, to technology innovators.
The first thing they saw when they arrived at the conference was a trailer promoting the game with a link to play, leading to over 150 of the world’s most influential innovators creating their own states and seeing the impact of the Institute’s thinking.
Imagine your own state.
